President Kim Il Sung’s 100th Birth Anniversary
At the invitation of the Organizing Committee of the International Festival on President Kim Il Sung’s Birth Centenary, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ho Anh Tuan, President of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations Vu Xuan Hong, Chairman of the Vietnam-Korea Friendship Association cum Head of the Vietnam Preparatory Committee for Celebrating President Kim Il Sung’s Birth Centenary Pham Tat Dong, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences Prof. Dr. Nguyen Quang Thuan, Vice Director of the Performing Art Department Dao Dang Hoan led their respective delegations and a group of VTV reporters to the DPRK from April 10 to 17, 2012 and participated in the relevant events.
Taking this opportunity, the delegates conducted effective working sessions with their Korean counterparts and exchanged ideas on their bilateral relations. The two Cultural Ministries signed their Cultural Exchange Program for the period of 2012-2014. Upon the commemorative framework, the delegates took part in the Unveiling Ceremony of the Statues of President Kim Il Sung and Leader Kim Jong Il on Mansu Hill, and the 14th Kimilsungia Festival, visited the secret camp in Mt. Paektu, and Mankyongdae (President Kim Il Sung’s native village), planted memorial trees, and participated in the International Conference Supporting the Reunification of Korea, the World Congress on the Juche Idea, the 28th April Spring Friendship Art Festival and other activities. The art troupe of 24 artistes from the Vietnam Song Dance Music Theater brought to the Festival various numbers featured by Vietnam national characteristics and won high appreciation from both the host and international audiences.
